Director, Human Resources

POSITION SUMMARY
Director, Human Resource position is full-time and advises and works alongside senior leadership to align staffing, pay, benefits, and hiring initiatives with overall business strategy. This position oversees all aspects of Vargo’s human capital and is specifically responsible for recruiting, talent assessments, onboarding, employee relations, professional development, pay and benefits, training, performance management, employee success and disciplinary feedback and reporting. This person will report to the Chief Executive Officer (or another designated Executive).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote corporate values, shape a positive culture and environment.
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
  • Maintain pay plan and benefits programs.
  • Assess training/certification needs and monitor training programs.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Conduct employee satisfaction surveys to drive a high level of employee engagement.
  • Partner with department managers to assist in filling open staffing needs.
  • Create compelling job postings that promote brand and culture.
  • Screen resumes and perform preliminary phone interviews with candidates.
  • Assess aptitude as it relates to company needs and skill requirements.
  • Convey the company’s organization structure & personnel policies.
  • Make recommendations to department managers & coordinate the interviews.
  • Follow up on the interview process status.
  • Stay current on the federal and state laws regarding employment practices and recommend best practices, reviews policy changes to maintain compliance.
  • Accurate and timely support of benefits enrollment and changes, disability/leave, safety records and workers compensation.
  • Coordinate & implement college recruiting strategies and initiatives.
  • Handle all necessary HR administrative duties and record keeping, employee files (electronic and paper)
  • Report to management on employment activity and performance.
  • Maintain relationships internally to help develop positional succession planning.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in applicable human resources field. (Master’s degree or a HR certification is a plus).
  • Proven and consistent working experience as HR Manager/Director/Leader.
  • People oriented and results driven.
  • Demonstrable direct recruiting experience.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Ability to architect HR strategy along with required leadership skills.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
